Martin
Fielding is a retired banker, Korean War vet, father and
grandfather—and he has Alzheimer’s. His final years of life are
filled with confusion and the obliteration of cherished
memories. He must face the inevitability of losing his loved
ones and even himself to the encroaching abyss. At a time that
should be filled with quiet reflection and the satisfaction of
“a life well-lived”, Martin must face his final days as a
stranger to the world around him and must begin every remaining
day of his life as if it were his first.
In this story
based upon the author’s personal experiences, Martin and his
family discover that despite the “curse” of Alzheimer’s, the
most important period of a man’s life may well be his final
days. For Martin Fielding and his family the diagnosis of
Alzheimer’s Disease does not signal the end, but the beginning
of a wonderful journey.
